Story 03
Didipapa & Gorarasiasi
as told by Goby Noah - TSI

Two Samsep men are on their way home when they come across a ghost blocking their path

Synopsis:
This story is about the Samsep and Peidu people of Erub Island in the Torres Strait who travelled to Wargor to make a Mabus, which is a kind of Yam with shredded coconut and coconut milk in clam shells commonly known as Miskors. On their way home two of the Samsep men, Didipapa & Gorarasiasi run into a ghost blocking their path. The two men were terrified as they did not know what he wanted. Didipapa manages to escape from the ghost leaving Gorarasiasi behind with the Mabus. Gorarasiasi ends up being invited by the ghost to join him for a meal. For two days Gorarasiasi eats with the ghosts and enjoys an array of feasts. During this time Gorarasiasi is asked to give up the Mabus. He refuses as the Mabus belongs to his people, and would like to return it safely. He bids farewell and leaves his new found friends. In the meantime Didipapa has returned to the rest of his people and is asked the whereabouts of Gorarasiasi. Unable to explain exactly, he suggests that Gorarasiasi was abducted by the ghost. Shortly after Gorarasiasi arrives home safe and tells them of his adventure.
