Wanka Manapulpa Minyma (The Trapdoor Spider Woman)

A conniving trickster is the trapdoor spider woman, who uses her powers to get food for the day.

Synopsis:
Based on the inspiring canvases of Western Australian artist Pantjiti Mary McLean, ‘Wanka Manapulpa Minyma’ captures the spiralling Dreamtime tale about the harsh desert conditions and the traditional Aboriginal lifestyle. Traditional Aboriginal hunters knew their land and were very skilled at trapping food, but not clever enough to out wit the trickery and spirit powers of an old woman who lived alone outside the tribal law. Her deceitfulness is punished in this entertaining short film.
